Pinterest has gained millions of followers and plenty of interest from businesses. Many people have seen the benefits of using the board to promote themselves.
However, in order to be able to take full advantage of the social photo sharing website, you need to know how to properly manage your Pinterest boards. With this in mind, here are four tips to easily look after and get the most out of your account:
1. Rearrange Your Boards
Pinterest made some changes to the layout of their site earlier this year. Unless you move them yourself, the boards now stay stationary. This causes an issue because those featured as your four main boards which are under your screen name can quickly become outdated.
You should therefore frequently rearrange your boards, making sure you place the four boards that have the most relevance and use, in the top slots. It is advisable to do this every one to two weeks.
To do this you simply need to click on your name in the top right then click the button next to ‘Edit Profile’. This will let you rearrange the boards before saving the changes.
2. Change Board Covers
Pinterest users do not always put much focus on the covers of each of their boards. This is a big error because the covers make a big difference in the resulting look of your profile.
The covers can be changed into something more creative with a simple couple of clicks. Simply hover over your board cover and then click ‘Edit Board Cover’ and select a new one from your board collection.

3. Do Not Rename Your Boards
One of the biggest mistakes you can make is to rename a board. It changes the given URL for that board, meaning if it has been shared on another site, or bookmarked, it breaks the link and makes it unusable. This is a big problem for people who are trying to build up a presence on Pinterest.
Another issue it will cause is with reference to the share button. All of the ‘Likes’ and ‘Tweets’ your board has accumulated will disappear and reset to zero. This will mean you need to promote your board all over again. You should therefore make sure you pick a name and stick with it.
4. Choose Quality Over Quantity
There are many boards on Pinterest that are cluttered with sometimes thousands of random images. Some of the picture might be great examples but others may be terrible, which can lead to bad results.
When you are adding in images, try not to go too overboard. Try to focus on quality rather than quantity, and only add things that you think are likely to be repinned by others. If you are more focused in your approach, you are likely to get better results.
If you make use of these four tips, there is a good chance your repins and subscriptions will grow. If you require any assistance with how to get the most out of your social media strategy, why not contact us at Network Intellect.
